More Birthday Celebrations.
Tuesday 28th August was Beryls Birthday. We had several outings to celebrate it. On Sunday the 26th we went to the Ffolkes Arms at Hillington, near Sandringham, and enjoyed a meal and a drink in the evening, it was all very nice. After the meal we had a drive to Hunstanton and saw a lovely sunset over the sea. It was a pity that I did not have my camera but we still enjoyed it.
On the Monday we had a trip to Felbrig Hall, National Trust Property, and had a picnic in the park, was really lovely, lots of people doing the same. Weather was good although there was a bit of a chilly wind at times. After our picnic we looked round the gardens which I must say were very good. All the National Trust Properties we have visited so far have superb gardens. We then toured the house which dates back to the 15th century and was well worth a visit. A most enjoyable trip. In the evening we enjoyed yet another celebration, the marriage of James Van Wijk and Rachel Slough at Dunston Hall, near Norwich. It was a good night, James and Jennie and our granddaughters Amie and Bethany were there, they had been there for the whole of the wedding. Chris and Lynn were also there in the evening. Beryl’s highlight was dancing with our granddaughters, mainly to Elvis music, and also meeting the Wolf, Michael Van Wijk, who starred in the the Gladiators show which used to be on the TV. Congratulations to Jim and Rachel we enjoyed our time with you.
Tuesday-Beryl’s Birthday- James and Jennie plus Amie and Bethany took Beryl to the Ffolkes Arms once more and enjoyed a meal with them at lunch time. All very enjoyable once more. After returning home to Swaffham spent some more time with them till I arrived home from work, they spent a little time with me before going home.
Beryl really enjoyed her Birthday celebrations, had lots of cards and some nice presents. Thanks to everyone for these and for spending your time with me! A Birthday to remember!
Jennie’s Birthday- The First of the celebrations to come.
On Wednesday Jennie invited us to tea with James and the children, which we enjoyed. Jennie and Beryl enjoyed scampi and chips while James and I had gammon steak and chips, followed by cakes. It was all very nice thank you Jennie! We enjoyed our time with you both and with the children who we had not seen for awhile. We left our presents for Jennie’s Birthday which was on Friday 17th.
On Saturday the 18th we joined James, Jennie, and the children again for further celebrations, Chris and Lynn, Jennies parents were also there. We enjoyed a delicious Indian takeaway meal and some Cake, we also enjoyed a karaoke game which they had. Beryl also enjoyed the wine, I abstained as I was driving. Thank you for a most enjoyable evening!
Life Still Goes On!
I have been a bit lax of late and have not posted for a while so I will update on events to date . Beryl has joined the Ashill Womens Institute and is enjoying it very much, she is looking forward to the next meeting which is a social and party evening. As for myself I have joined a camera club at Caston and am enjoying it also. It is an expanding club and so far they have had outside photo shoots, a competition, and there is also a photoshop demonstration to come which I am looking forward to. We have also visited a few National Trust Properties, Oxborough Hall, Ickworth House and Blickling Hall, all are superb properties and well worth a visit. Ickworth House has a super play area for children and a lovelly picnic area. We have also had some nice days out, namely Bury St.Edmonds, Diss, and Bressingham Steam and Gardens, all of these places are well worth a visit. I have taken some super photo’s in all the places we have visited and will post some at a later date.
We are both keeping well and are looking forward to enjoying a few family Birthdays before going on our holiday to York in September.
A Day out to Wroxham Barns
[image:33:c:l:t=:l=x]Today we took our two Grandchildren Amie and Bethany to Wroxham Barns, this was the first time we had taken them out without James and Jennie. We had a super time with them both and I think everyone enjoyed themselves. We started with lunch, Sandwiches and a drink , and of course a piece of chocolate cake. We then went to the funfair and Amie had a ride in a Barbie Car on the merry-go-round and also a ride on the train. After this Amie and Bethany had fun on the swings and the slide. It was then about 3.15pm so we decided to leave and went to the Broads River Cruise’s to check out the times of the boat trips and prices before taking the girls home. We arrived back at Jennie’s at 3.55, had a little chat about our day before leaving for home at Swaffham. We had all enjoyed our day out!
Our Derbyshire Holiday May 2007
[image:26:c:l:t=:l=x]On May 12th we travelled to Hope in Derbyshire for a one week holiday staying in a holiday cottage in the Peak District. Travelling went very well as we had the use of James Tom Tom Satelite Navigation System. It was a real bonus! We had a very enjoyable week although the weather could have been better- mainly rain and cloud- but we stayed bright! We visited many places- Ashbourne- Bakewell- Buxton- Castleton- Chesterfield- Denby- Glossop- Hardwick- Hope- Keddleston- Sheffied all of which we enjoyed. To us we enjoyed Bakewell and Buxton the best. The scenery was fantastic a complete change to Norfolk. A trip along the Snake Pass being the highlight. The cottage we stayed in was very good it had every thing in it you could wish for. It was on a small farm and Beryl enjoyed feeding the chickens each day which gave us a reward as we were given fresh new laid eggs by the owner of the cottage. The cottage was at the foot of Loose Hill and Mam Tor and I was more than pleased when Beryl agreed to go for a walk up Loose Hill. She was very dubious at first but after a little persuasion she made it to the top. A climb of 300 feet! Well done Beryl! Once at the top the view was magnificent, looking up at Mam Tor and looking down on the Hope Valley. It was a scene to savour. I took many photo’s and have posted some in our gallery. Please take a look and pass your comments. We arrived home safely on Friday 18th at 5.45pm. We travelled on Friday afternoon as we had to pick up our dogs Harry and Robbie from the kennels at 10 am on the Saturday. They were pleased to see us and had been well looked after. A good time was had by all! We look forward to our next holiday in York in September.
Beryl
Beryl had a visit to the Doctors today, just a check-up after her Hospital visit, and pleased to say the Doctor gave her the all clear, now her problems will hopefully be a thing of the past. Needless to say I am really pleased to think that after nearly a year her problems are now a thing of the past
Beryl also had a visit to the hairdressers today and has got a new look after having her hair cut and blonde streaks put in it. She is very happy with it, as am I, but is reluctant to have her photo put on the website, so you will all have to wait till you see her. We are now looking forward to our holiday in Derbyshire and am sure we will both enjoy it after all the good news.
Maypole Dancing at Bircham Windmill.
[image:6:c:l:t=:l=x]Today we had a day out to Bircham Windmill with James and Jennie and our two grandchildren Amie and Bethany. We arrived at the Mill around 1.00pm and after a little look around we had lunch in the cafe’, just a quick snack. We were amazed at how many people had turned out considering how the weather was, wet and blustery all morning, but thankfully the afternoon turned out to be all right. We saw a new born foal, which was born Saturday afternoon, also guinea pigs, which Jennie held while Amie touched them, And the young girl took a white one for Bethany to touch, which was lovely. Amie then had a dance round the Maypole, which she really enjoyed. Beryl, Jennie, and Bethany joined in the band by playing the tambourine, maracas, and bells to accompany the lady who played the piano accordian. James and I took photo’s to record the happy event. Amie then had her face painted like a cat, while Bethany had ladybirds. Beryl and I had a quick look around the craft fair while this was being done. We finished with the girls playing on the slide, which they both thoroughly enjoyed, especially Bethany as she had not done this before. We all said how we had really enjoyed this day out! We then returned to Swaffham for tea. Chicken Paprika, which I had prepared in the morning and cooked in the slow cooker, and Chocolate Viennetta.
Beryl get’s the RED CARD.
On Wednesday 18th April Beryl had an appointment with Dr. George at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital at Kings Lynn at 4.20pm. Dr. George was very pleased with her and said that every thing was all right, all the tests showed everything was as it should be. He stopped one of the tablets, which he said was no longer necessary, but to keep taking the remainder for her blood pressure, cholesterol, and thyroid. He said “I’m giving you the Red Card, I no longer need to see you, go out and enjoy your life.” Obviously we were very pleased to think that after nearly a year Beryl was given the all clear. I must say Beryl has been feeling much better before and since seeing Dr. George and has even been on the bus to Norwich and back, a great boost for her confidence.
Tracey does a sky-dive for MND.
On April 3rd Tracey Watts intended to do a sky-dive in memory of her dad, Chris Watts , who died of MND on August 1st 2006, today would have been his 51st Birthday. But the weather prevented this so it was postponed until Easter Sunday, 8th April. Tracey did the jump with her brother’s partner Hannah and thankfully all went well. We raised £170-00 for MND, but will let you know full amount raised at a later date.
March
Sorry but have not kept up to date on my blog time just seems to have escaped me . We celebrated Lynn’s birthday at the Feathers at Framlingham Piggot on the 25and gardenth and Beryl had a visit to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital at Kings Lynn to see Dr. McPartlin, a ENT specialist, as she was having trouble with her balance. After having a hearing test, Beryl saw Dr. Mc Partlin and after a few tests he said he had removed her crystals, whatever they are. Since going Beryl has been feeling much better, and seems to be well on the way to full recovery. She still has to see Dr. George in April.
We also had a week’s holiday, spent at home doing things about the house and garden. The week was absolutely gorgeous, lovely weather, so most of the week was spent going out in the beautiful Norfolk countryside.
Sorry if I have missed anything but this is as much as I can remember!
