Matlock-Matlock Bath-Masson Mill-Heague Windmill.
Today we decided on a trip to Matlock, and Matlock Bath to see the cable cars at Matlock Bath. It was not to good a day for weather, a bit cold and windy but dry. On arrival we had a look around the Town, a bit seaside-ish kind of place, but obvisously no seaside. Had a look in some of the shops that were open, mainly gift shops, it seemed the majority of the shops did not open till 11.00 am, as perhaps they were open in the evening when more people were about. We saw the cable cars, took some photo’s of them, but did not go on them as Beryl was a bit to nervous. Took some pictures of the Town before going to the Masson Mill Shopping Complex for a peek. It also housed a Museum of when it was a Textile Mill, with several exhibits of machinery used at that time. Looked round the shopping areas, four floors of discount clothing, perfume, gifts etc. Made a few purchases, had some lunch there before leaving for the Windmill at Heague. When we eventually found the Windmill, it was raining then, we were dissapointed to find it was closed. None-the-less , took some super photo’s of it before going on to Dovedale. On arriving at Dovedale, and paying £2-00 for parking, a rip-off really, we walked to see the infamous stepping stones. It was a bit rocky and the grass areas were very slippery as it had rained earlier, although it was dry all the while we were there. Sad to say Beryl slipped on the wet grass, did not hurt herself but got a little bit muddy on thre arms of her clothes. When we arrived at the stepping stones, took some photo’s, some very nice scenery here, stayed a while before returning to the car and travelling home. We had a most enjoyable day. Stayed in for the night as we were quite tired.
