Jo’s Just Deserts.

Today we were invited to lunch with Jo, The wife of an ex colleague of mine at Baxters Butchers where Norman & I were District Managers. Norman, sadly died 2 years ago, but we are still very good friends with Jo.

We arrived at 12-30pm for 1-00 lunch.  We enjoyed a sherry to whet our appetite , we started with Trout & prawn salad, followed by Roast beef, cooked on a bed of celery, mushrooms, onions, & split peas topped with Norfolk dumplings. Served with potatoes, carrots, parsnips, swede & cabbage & of course gravy.  Sweet was a rice pudding with pineapple, oranges & apple topped with a meringue & cream.  All enjoyed with a nice glass of rose’ wine.  Very nice indeed!

After lunch we enjoyed a cup of tea/coffee in the lounge & had a good natter.  Jo is an acomplished poet & she showed us 2 poems which have been published in recent books. We arrived home about 4-30pm.  We had a really enjoyable day, with Jo who is 82 years young in April.
