Back Problems Update.

I have now been back to work for two weeks and there is no sign of my back problem improving. After a days work I feel really tired and come home with my back and legs aching quite considerably, and still need to take pain killers. I wish the news was better but it looks as if it will take quite a while before I am fully fit again.

Beryl is still on her diet and has lost a few more pounds but still wants to lose a little more before she is happy with her weight.  Still making the juice and smoothies which are very tasty.

We are both looking forward to Mothering Sunday when we have a meal out with James, Jennie, and the Grandchildren, plus Jennies parents and her brother and his family for a Chinese Meal at the Lucky Star in Norwich.  Thanks also to Jennie for cooking us a super roast dinner when we visited them all on Sunday 24 th February.

Back to Work!

After 6 weeks of being off work with my back trouble I am going to work again tomorrow, although I am not still fully fit I have decided to give it a try, hopefully I will be ok. I know I will have to take it easy for a while and leave the lifting to my staff but hopefully I will soon be fully fit.  I shall miss being at home being with Beryl, she has looked after me really well. Thank you Beryl! Harry and Robbie will also miss me as they had lots of extra walks, helping me to get active again.

January, February.

So far it has not been the greatest of New Years,  I have been off work with my back problems since January 7th and am still at home as I write this post. I have had considerable pain and sadly do not feel that I am fit enough for work at the moment.  I have visited the doctor several times and have been on pain killers, anti-inflammatory, and muscle spasm tablets and still need to take them all except the muscle spasm tablets.  I have also visited a physiotherapist which has helped and am doing exercises that were recommended and am walking around two miles a day to try and get myself fit again, hopefully this will pay dividends, Beryl keeps me company on most of my walks which is nice and is helping her to slim.  I feel quite depressed to think that after nearly 6 weeks of rest and exercise I am still a distance away from feeling fit enough to work. Hopefully by the end of this week I will be able to return to work although I know I won’t be fully fit, so if I do resume work will have to take it easy for awhile.

Beryl has been very good during my time at home, but I have been  been helping her with her new diet. It is fruit based and helped me lose two stones when I was on it nearly four years ago. It follows recipe’s from a book by Jason Vale- Slim For Life- so far in three weeks Beryl has lost 7 lbs.

New Year 2008

James, Jennie and the grandchildren visited us for lunch,we enjoyed a roast beef dinner, but sadly it was Beryl who was under the weather this time so I cooked the lunch which I must say turned out very well. I still had my back problems, but the pain had eased. We enjoyed the time with our family but they did not stay too long so as not to tire Beryl, but she did feel tired after they had left and had a sleep.

Christmas 2007

This year turned out to be not one of our best Christmas’s mainly because I injured my back at work and was in quite a lot of pain. We enjoyed lunch at home this year and had a very enjoyable meal, turkey and all the trimmings, as you would expect. In the afternoon we visited James, Jennie and our grandchildren, Amie and Bethany, gave them our presents, and spent some time with them before returning home. Sadly I did not enjoy it as much as I would have liked due to my back problems.

Wedding Anniversary and Holiday Week.

On Tuesday Beryl and I celebrated our 31st Wedding Anniversary. We enjoyed a day out to Bury St. Edmonds, visited the Abbey Gardens and spent some time in Town before having some lunch and returning home. In the evening we enjoyed a meal at the Showground in Norwich, very tasty, and the newly refurbished restaurant looks superb.

The rest of the week has been filled up by going out for days and some odd jobs at home. On the whole a most enjoyable week, despite there being flood warnings for the East Coast on Friday morning. We end our week with a meal out on Sunday Lunchtime with John and Sheila when we go to Number 24 Restaurant at Wymondham.

Amie’s 4th Birthday.

Today was Amie’s 4th Birthday and we celebrated by having a Fish and chip tea, thanks to Thorpe Fish Bar, and followed this with a piece of pumpkin birthday cake.  Amie had some nice presents from family and friends, but there was a little sadness on the day as Amie lost her pink Rabbit, a must have at bedtime.

If not found I think a new one has been promised by Mum and Dad!

Richards Birthday.

Today I enjoyed my Birthday, but sadly our family could not join us as they have all had a sickness bug, so we had to cancel our original arrangements which were to be at Dunston Hall and go somewhere else.  Beryl and I decided to go to the Town House at Thorpe where we enjoyed a carvery meal and a sticky toffee desert, very nice.  We then went to Highway Nurseries for a look around before coming home. All the Christmas gear was on display, looked round the rest of the areas, craft, clothes etc. before returning home.

I have enjoyed my day, wish the family were there, but we will make up for it another day, perhaps when there is another special occasion to celebrate.  Beryl bought me a nice shirt, had three cards as most were held up by the postal strike, but I expect the rest of the cards will follow when its over.  Was pleased to have spoken to Jennie and the rest of my family and friends on the phone or internet.

Holiday in York. 21st - 28th September.

We enjoyed a week in Yorkshire and choose York as our base to explore the sights. The apartment we stayed in was only half a mile away from York Minster, and was only 150yds away from the River Ouse. There was a lovely walk into York along the river which was very nice as we didn’t need to use the car. We enjoyed our first full day in York (sat) and saw the Duke of York at an inaugarel ceremony of his new regiment at York Minster.( took several photo’s) There was also the Prince of Wales Regiment and the Yorkshire Regiment there for the occasion so there were plenty of soldiers there. We also visited the York Museum before ending our day out.

Sunday we enjoyed a day at Fountains Abbey and the water gardens-was a super day out at a National Trust Property. We must have walked around three miles round the water gardens but this was very enjoyable.

Monday as the weather was not to good we stayed in York and went to the National Railway Museum, a great visit at no cost which is really surprising as you could spend a whole day there. Also saw the York Wheel which is like the London Eye before going into York Minster.

Tuesday was a super day, a bit windy so we decided to go to Whitby, about on hours journey from York. We had a super day, took some lovely photo’s, had a delicious fish and chip dinner, and a ride on the open top tour bus. Beryl came off the bus with a new hair do as we sat on the top deck in the wind. Looking on the bright side it was free!

Wednesday we went to Castle Howard, which is supposed to be the best House and Grounds in Yorkshire and believe me it really is. The only downside being the weather being very windy and mixed with heavy showers. In the afternoon we went to an Air Museum, Beryl wasn’t to impressed as some the planes were old at not to well cared for, but they are renovating them as they they get more funds. After this we went to the Designer Outlet on the outskirts of York, a shopping complex with all the goods at discount prices.

Thursday, our last day, we went to two National Trust Properties,  Rievaulx Terrace and Temples, and Nunnington Hall, we enjoyed both although the weather was still a bit rough, dull and windy. Stayed our last night in York before returning home on the Friday morning.

Bethany Has A Birthday.

Today we celebrated Bethany’s Birthday, 2 years old.  We travelled to James and Jennies for a Birthday meal, Chris and Lynn were also there.  We enjoyed a nice chicken meal with rice and green beans and of course followed by a Pink Pig Birthday cake for Bethany with 2 candles on it.  Bethany did the honour of blowing out the candles.  She had received most of her Birthday gifts although she was pleased with her Tiny Tears Doll’s Set that we gave her. Let’s hope she has given her a name.  We had a lovely time with them all before Amie and Bethany had to go to bed.
